EHHA's President has appointed Harry Gordon to represent EHHA in Sandoval County's public involvement program for the proposed Northwest Loop highway between I-40 and US-550. Harry's involvement will include attending meetings, submitting and receiving pertinent questions, assisting with the planning process in the interest of EHHA, and reporting directly to the EHHA board of directors.
Questions posed and a suggestion offered include:
1. Has consideration been given to incorporating a major access road in the project from the Northwest Loop to “downtown” Rio Rancho? Such a road will be extremely beneficial to the growth of Rio Rancho’s downtown businesses, entertainment and lodging venues. This road could make Rio Rancho’s downtown a major business and entertainment destination, like Glendale, Arizona.
2. Has there been any discussion about requiring communities in Sandoval and Bernalillo Counties to require residential developers to disclose how close their developments will be to the Northwest Loop?
3. Construction of the Northwest Loop will act as a development accelerator along its entire length. In the planning process, hopefully, a complete xeriscape landscaping plan will be incorporated into the final plans so the Northwest Loop is not just another roadway.
If you would like to become actively involved with this EHHA subcommittee or have Northwest Loop associated questions or suggestions which you would like EHHA to address, please email us at NWLoop@ehha.us.
